Making A Difference

“The changes at the school are significant. Our library is now a modern, friendly environment that cultivates both staff and student learning.”

Academics + Technology

Technology Advancements. Completed Fall 2015

There’s no doubt about it: A strong foundation in technology is essential for all students, no matter what path they choose. A $110,000 Success Fund investment in new technology, including 200 Chromebooks, classroom projectors and digital photography resources, has put the latest technology in the hands of BHS students and educators. Understanding that technology is useless without adoption and training, 16 teachers have attended tech camps and are incorporating the new technology into their curriculum.

Mini Grant Innovation Allocations. Ongoing

Access to additional funding allows teachers to pursue new ideas, improvements and tools in the classroom. Through an application process, teachers can identify and request funding for innovative projects that will help increase students’ learning opportunities. Examples of recent grants include purchasing equipment to support an expanding digital photography program, CPR and anatomy modeling mannequins for health career classes, and additional teaching aids for special needs students.

Extra-Curricular Support. Ongoing

All students deserve access to diverse educational experiences and opportunities. The Success Fund supports scholarships for summer sports camps and athletics activities. Additional resources are available for band, choir and drama. A counselor support fund has been created to better meet the personalized needs of individual students. Success Fund supported field trips and learning opportunities outside of the classroom give more students a chance to participate by helping offset costs and fees.

Facilities + Student Support

Library Revitalization. Completed Summer 2015

Study, collaborate, access the latest technology—the redesign of the school’s library is opening up a world of learning opportunities for BHS students. Transformed into a 21st century education space, the library has been outfitted with new technology, furniture, flexible meeting and study areas, and much more.

College & Career Center Renovation. Completed Summer 2015

Perhaps there is no more important role for a high school than to encourage and motivate students to reach their full potential. A reimagined college and career center now inspires BHS students to explore and discover higher education opportunities, trades and other career paths, and guides them on how to take the next step in pursuing their ambitions.

Design Refreshes & Updates. Ongoing

At the heart of the school, the student center provides a welcoming, comfortable place to collaborate and engage. With the idea that the most successful high school experiences involve not only excellent educational opportunities, but also emotional and social support, the student center redesign is a place created exclusively with students’ needs in mind.

What’s Next

The definition of a well-rounded high school experience includes excellence in education, entertainment and play. It’s one where students can be challenged to succeed, both mentally and physically, and a place where teamwork and lifelong bonds with fellow students and the community are fostered.

With that in mind, the Beaverton High School Success Fund’s five-year vision includes the creation of a planned outdoor community, with state-of-the-art athletic and activity fields. The plans are in place, the vision is set, and now we need support from the entire BHS community to make it a reality.

Along with ongoing support for academics, updated technology and funding for increased student opportunities, this facilities improvement is a major undertaking, but progress is already being made. Thanks to donations from 150 individuals, families, foundations and businesses, we have raised nearly $5 million so far and, in the process, established a new $10 million goal. Please consider giving today. Large or small, every dollar helps towards making a direct, positive difference at the school, both now and for years to come.
